I have seen many times this weekend the Kellogg's Special K (I think that's the one it was) commercial saying replace 2 meals a day with a bowl of cereal and you'll lose 6 pounds in 2 weeks. Is anyone concerned about this commercial and the message it's sending? What is going to happen when these people go back to eating a regular meal after the 2 weeks? This commercial really concerns me and the message it is sending about nutrition and eating regular foods. Maybe it's just me.

Then you must hate the Slim Fast commercials too!

Yes, it's really obnoxious. All they are doing is selling cereal. But the consumer needs to be smart too.

Really, you could say that about a lot of diets.. As the poster above said, what happens when you stop drinking Slim Fast? What happens when you've been on Atkins and start eating carbs again? What happens when you stop taking Amazing Diet Pill X? What happens when you stop counting WW Points and eat whatever whenever? What happens when you stop exercising?

Its up to that person to take away what ever they want from their eating plan. If doing that for two weeks and losing some weight makes them feel healthier and changes their mind about going back to eating lunch at McDonalds, then maybe it wasn't such an evil thing...

I have thought about that with the other "diets" and food plans but they never actually tell you in the commercials to stop eating!

Guess I've worked for an eating disorder specialist for too long. Oh well.

This bothered me too. So much for teaching better eating habits. I guess it's maybe good to lose those "extra" pounds that people gained from the holidays? Seems to me like a "quick fix" rather than a permanent diet (I hope not!!)
