View Full Version : Had an idea about books....Anyone else interested??

I don't know if this is an idea that has been suggested before, or if anyone else thinks it is a good idea - but I seem to have accumulated a stack of books that I've read over the past year or so, that I know I won't read again, but that also I hang onto knowing they cost about a fiver each so I don't get rid of them!
I thought that maybe when someone has a book they no longer wanted, we could post it here, and then anyone who wanted to read it could let them know, it would be posted to them, and so on....
I read quite a lot, and it varies from easy read 'chick lit' to 'proper' literature, Dan Brown thrillers etc. I suppose between us all, we have quite a varied taste, and sometimes I feel that I don't really want to spend money on a genre of book that I might not like - so it could also be a good way of testing the water.
We could also post a link to that particular book, on say Amazon, so people who hadn't heard of it could read up on it.
Anyway, it's just a thought. Before I go through my books and post them here, perhaps you could let me have views on whether it's a good idea or not?

There is a web site called www.readitswapit.co.uk. You can swap books with other people. All you pay is the cost of postage. Perhaps this would be worth considering?

Great Idea - not that I have much chance to read at the moment :) But I know what you mean about not getting rid of them.

Maybe is you put a list of a dozen or so books on (and anyone else who would like to join in) and then you can see what you would like to swap. I'm not a big reader, but I think this is a good idea.

Hi
I would love the
Dan Brown....Angels & Demons
Its probably the only one I have not read of his!!....if you still have it I would love to 'borrow' it (will PM you incase you have got it!!)
I have 100's of books as I read every night in bed!!!. If you all can wait till sunday I will sort them over the weekend and list them (most are chic flit books so easy/humour reading!!) my favourite author is Sophie Kinsella...when she has a new book I can read it within 24 hrs...the family know to leave me in peace!! :rotfl2:
I have given up on my local libary and now borrow from friend, buy and pop into local charity shops to buy!! :)

Hi all
I agree with all of the above :-) as I am a dedicated book collector, though I am generally interested in First Edition Hardbacks only. I have a few books at home that I need to get rid of having recenlty upgraded them to First Editions. If any of you have First Editions please let me know by PM and I will reply letting you know whether or not I am interested.
I am happy to pay a few quid for each book + P&P

Tracey, well done on getting started on those invites! I need a bit of a kick up the rear at the moment. I think I'll try and make some lists on the weekend, rather than have everything swimming around in my head at 4am.
I know that I have Clive Cussler books somewhere, but they may well be still at my Mums even though I moved out years ago, or in the attic. I'll let you know if I can find any!
