Beverly Lynn (or anyone else who knows),

A friend of mine is supposed to be on a USAir flight from PHL to San Francisco this weekend. She called USAir yesterday when confirming her flights (one of which was changed) and asked about security measures etc. She was told by the USAIr rep that things are working fine and she does not need to get to the airport any earlier than she did before. Is this correct? What's the reason for this? It makes me very nervous that suddenly it takes no longer than it did with weaker security.

From what I'm hearing, the lines at airport counters have been very short because of the dramatic decrease in passengers. The security is beefed up somewhat, but there aren't very many people flying yet. That's probably the reason for the statement. If I were you I would still follow the 2-hour guideline just in case.
