I guess it depends on where you want the villa to be located and what amenities you are looking for, but I would be surprised if you could not find many many 2 bedroom villas for a week at this price.

When I recently did a huge search for 4 bedroom villas, I probably had 40 quotes that ranged from $750-1000.00 for my TEN day trip in May, from many many different communities, including some of the nicest and newest ones like Emerald Island, Windsor Hills, Rolling hills, Oak Island etc.

Where have you been looking?

If you are looking to not rent direct the prices are going to be traditionally 20-50% higher.

Try this site as they have lots of villas/condo's that aren't direct rentals. www.hotelkingdom.com let us know if you find anything.

Also, when are you going-- that is going to affect the price a lot.

ok, that may explain it. It sounds like you are looking at places like Vistana, more resort like. One suggestion I have as a "middle ground" is Windsor Hills. We looked via VRBO.com at a lot of 3 bedroom townhomes there. It doesn't have organized activities or restaurants, but the pool complex is very resort like with slides and zero depth entry etc.. The playgrounds are quite elaborate and there seems to be a lot of action in the clubhouse area. Our quotes for 2 bedroom condos or 3 bedroom townhomes there for 10 nights were in the $850-1000 range.

We have a 3 bedroom/2 bath condo at Windsor Hills booked for April 28- May 9 for $85 a night. We went through orlando4starvillas, but windsorhillsrent is another site that we looked at. We chose the resort because of the pool being so kid friendly and it's location near Disney. I wish we had gone through an owner so we don't have to make a stop before checking in or out. Hopefully everything will go smoothly.

Actually, we have often had to stop at a management company to get the key when renting from an owner. Many owners feel it is more secure. So you might not have been better off renting direct from owner in that sense, although you might possibly have saved a little money.

Have a great trip!

you are staying for 2 weeks - that is $500 for each week.

Sheraton Vistana is not a good buy on skyauction.

sometimes however Silver lake is a good buy. Go look for it.

Celebration World Resort almost falls into your wish list.

Bryan's Spanish Cove does - but like the other two not enough stuff for kids to do....

sometimes but only sometimes the Marriott's timeshares at

www.marrriottworldcenter.com

come up - they are Royal Palms, Imperial Palms and Sabal Palms. Also start looking for them - they don't up as often as some of the other resort - but I have seem them.

man where are you looking as i just booked a 3 bed townhome/condo in windsor hills for a week for around 850 in March. and from what i hear windsor hills is amazing!

kept in mind that the best ones for skyauction in late April won't appear until April....

early may however should appear about the same time.

I would start looking in the middle of March. You might get luck before then.

also skyauction is doing something sneaky.....my opinon.

they are taking these resorts and putting them with plane tickets.

so those of us who don't fly are losing.

most of the timeshares/condo in Orlando/Lake Buena Vista/Kissimmee have maintence fees over $500 per year per week.

so for 2 weeks unless you get luck with skyaction - then either put up more money or lower your expectation.

the houses in the area are lovely!!!

some of them do have activities for children.

I just booked a 3 bed/3 bath townhouse in Windsor Hills for $525/week. That's for the beginning of May. I'm so excited to get this location for this price. Direct from the owner (and she sounds like a wonderful person) with a key lock box so I don't have to go to an agency to pick up keys (another big plus). The resort looks amazing, I can't wait.

Thanks. That's true about owner's using management companies. The more I've looked around the more I've seen that.
If I had gone through an owner besides saving money, I might feel more secure about the unit we are getting. I started to go through an owner but they had a booking that overlapped some of our days and we didn't want to change our dates. They assured us their booking company had a similar unit on the same floor in the same building. The cost was only a little higher so I went for it since my main priority was to be near the pool. It was all a little confusing since owners sometimes advertise on multiple websites and I gave up looking when I couldn't keep anybody straight.
Anyways, it's all much cheaper than staying in the World, which I've yet to do and so I won't know what I'm missing. :teeth:

This particular townhouse I got from VRBO.com. I also got some great offers from WindsorHillsrent.com. Because the beginning of May is a slower time, the owners were more willing to give me a great rate. ::yes::

There's a thread right above this from someone at Windsor Hills right now giving it a great review.

Take a look at it if you have a chance. Staying there may be a good option for you and sometimes for stays of 2 weeks you will get a little discount.

If you don't mind going a little further than Windsor Hills, I'd suggest Regal Palms. The pool area is AMAZING and your kids would love it. It is definitely further than some of the other resorts, but may be worth checking out. We are renting a 4 bedroom townhouse for $110 a night...all taxes included for President's Week.

It is on Route 27....just take 192 to the end and it turns into 27. It is a couple of miles down on the right hand side.

Happy planning.

Most homes have lock boxes and or electronic key pads for entry. It is becoming a rarity that you have to travel to an MC for your keys - what if your flight was delayed and didnt arrive till midnight? No MC will be waiting in their office!!?
Go for homes with lock boxes at the villa

Have a great holiday,

If you know someone who owns a timeshare and exchanges through Interval International then you can buy a getaway in your name from them. That is what we do. $329 for 7 nights at the Liki Tiki...I believe it was $700 and something for one of the Marriotts. The list goes on...and they are under 1k.

Actually, we arrived at midnight last year. Just drive to the MC office (which was on the way -- at Crossorads shopping center), used a code to get into the MC's lockbox to get the villa lock box code, then continue on our way to the villa.

I agree the lockbox at the villa is most convenient, but it isn't a deal breaker for us to have to stop at the MC, as long as it is not in the boondocks.

CHECK IT OUT!!!!!!! The resort is SOOOOOO close to WDW (we have walked back from DTD...although it was a nice LONG walk! ) and it is gorgeous! If anyone has any questions, I would be HAPPY to answer them!
