View Full Version : Changes to DDE discounts

Yesterday I read somewhere on the boards that there have been changes (since Jan 06) to which restaurants take DDE. I remember being disappointed that AP at SSR was off the list, I guess because Turf Club is serving more food now so the discount is offered there instead.

Can anyone remember this post or know where I can find an updated DDE list?

Many thanks,
Mandy ::MinnieMo

I just received my DDE card the other day & on the insert, where it lists the restaurants that offer the discount, AP is still listed......I'd be very interested to find out so I don't look goofy when I try to use my card there.

Thanks so much for that list.

So am I right in thinking that the only chages are the food courts taken off for SSR and some of the value resorts?

Anyone notice any other changes?

Oh that really stinks, I eat the the AP a lot.
I don't understand the point of that. You can't get breakfast at the Turf Club

I agree! When we were at OKW in September we ate at AP several times. I had no idea about the DDE discount so I never got it. I should have checked the list more carefully but I was just thinking it was for table service restaurants. The CMs were good about reminding us of the 10% DVC discount so we used that each time. At the end of Feb we will be arriving at SSR for 14 nights so I figured the DDE would save us a fair bit.

Might we see you there Athenna? We arrive 25 Feb for 14 nights. Look for a silly English couple, pregnant waddling wife (getting fatter before your eyes) and cheeky curly headed 2.5 year old girl!!!!

I'm glad we still get the 10% off, but I literally ate there 6 our of 7 breakfast last trip. I was travelling w/best friend who is not an early riser and I am, so I would go get us breakfast in the am while she was getting ready. Oh well, 10% off is better than nothing.
We will be there at the same time!!! I am arriving 3/5 and you'll still be there!
I'll keep an eye out for you :earsgirl:

Where did this list come from? Is it just me, or are the value resorts missing?

Thanks, Tiger

The list is from the AP holders website in the section regarding ordering a DDE card. I'm hoping this is a mistake, especially at the resorts that have NO sit down restraurants. That is why we get the discount at the AK, because of the lack of restraurants. Some folks have just returned and have indeed used their DDE cards at the food courts at the value resorts. I'm curious to see how this turns out. I'll be at Pop in 3 weeks for a couple of nights before moving to the VWL.

What a bummer...we just reserved three rooms @ POP just because we thought we could use the DDE card there!!! I'll have to call and see if I can book somewhere else as we ended up making our ressie on the last day the BRP plan was still being used and I don't know if we are under the terms of that plan or automatically switched over to the standard AP rate plan.

This trip is becoming a comedy of errors, didn't think we'd be going this year so I rented out all my points. Started talking to relatives about how fun it would be to meet @ WDW. Got ressies @ SOG and cancelled because it had been reported they were no longer participating in EMH (as of today it has been resolved and they are!), changed to POP thinking we would be saving enough money in the food court w/DDE to almost cover the cost of a third room (had two booked before). What next? :teeth:

Thanks, TigerThat looks like the list I saw yesterday on the passholders' website. I would think that is the best place to look for the most up to date list of participating restaurants.

Thanks! I went in yesterday to check something else and forgot to check DDE. I guess with the $60.00 fee increase, charge for supplemental card and deletion of many restaurants, it looks as if Disney didn't make their usual staggering profit margins with DDE last year.

I now think we have made the right choice with adding DP for sure and will not renew our DDE as we can get DVC and AP discounts just as well! Something for others to think about as well.

It's sad but true, the DVC discount for AP is not valid for breakfast. Lunch and Dinner only.

We did use our DDE at Turf Club quite a bit though and the 10% for L/D.

I see CRT is still on the list. I thought they were not going to accept discounts in 2006?

Also, although Raglan Road (DTD) does not accept the DDE, they do honor DVC 10% discount but not on alcohol.

Oh drat, that's right. I forgot the AP 10% isn't good for breakfast. I liekd having the DDE there, if nothing else, it was like getting morning coffee for free. Oh bummer.

TigerYeah, it's a pain to have to go log in somewhere to look up this stuff but there have been so many changes to DDE lately it seems like it's best to go to the source.

Between DDE, AP and DVC dining discounts it's getting hard to keep track of what sort of discount applies at each place. Maybe some enterprising person will create a handy chart that can be printed and carried along on trips that lists each restaurant and what sort of discount they offer.

Tiger

The drink menu is full-tilt! :rotfl2: Lots of specialty drinks and premium liquers. Even their virgin drinks were top shelf.

The food menu is still limited. They are open from 2pm to 11pm.

A Pub Burger served on Foccaccia Bun with Saratoga Chips

A Fruit and Cheese plate

Buffalo Chicken Tenders with a side of celery and Bleu Cheese dressing (My fave)

A Salmon Burger (cant remember sides)

Crab bites (cant remember sides)

Dipping Breadsticks with dips

None were over $9.99.

Kids Meal choices were Mini Hotdogs, fruit and mickey goldfish or Chicken Nuggets or Macaroni and cheese. $4.79 just like at AP

There may have been a few more that I can't remember. Our server said the restaurant would be open in April? I remember commenting we would be back in June, so I know it was before then.

Hey thanks! We don't drink, so that's not important to us. We didn't go into the Turf Club last year, so would it be ok to each lunch here with our 3 year old DD? What did you think of the atmosphere?

Good to hear it will be open for our July trip as going to Downtown Disney is not always such an attractive option in the hot, July sun!

I hope the Everything POP food court is added back in...we made two journeys over there for a light supper during our last trip. Maybe they took out the value resorts because folks were insisting on using DDE for the drink mugs? They should have just specifically exempted the mugs.

Tiger926
01-12-2006, 01:36 PM
I was wondering that myself, Chuck. So what is the place that's listed under Pop Century - Classic Conconctions - is this their resort shop? I guess I'm confused as to why they have a place listed at Pop, but not at the other Value resorts?

We never stay at Value resorts, but we have friends who do, so I'd be interested in seeing how the new changes play out!

Hi,

I just called DDE and asked them about POFQ, POR, POP and All Stars.
The lady was very nice and said you can use your DDE card at ALL of them. She said the restaurant list is the same as last year. She said she been getting alot of call this afternoon about which restaurants were still accepting the DDE card. :) Also it is $60 for one card and an extra $25 for another person (she said it can be another family member or companion)..Okay I'm calling my friends who are going to WDW this year to see if they want to split a DDE card with me. :cool1:

Exactly..I don't see why we can't still get the DDE at AP and have full svc at Turfs club. Why must we have one or the other?? :confused3

That's the way DDE works, if a resort has a TS, it isn't valid at the CS.

Thanks for posting this, I only hope the lady you spoke to wasn't relaying untrue info....sometimes the CMs seem to be "the last to know" about changes. We do like the POP food court for light dinners.

...So what is the place that's listed under Pop Century - Classic Conconctions

To the left of the dessert area & the food court, Classic Concoctions is POP's bar.

You're welcome!!

Our family had lunch there and we had my 2 DS's (6 and 8) and my niece (2) with us. There were a couple of tables of golfers and a nice lady enjoying the cheese plate. We did order and pay at the bar, but our food was served to us at the table on palette shaped plates and tall glasses . It was nice and quiet and you can watch the Ferry boats dock because we had a nice table by the window. After lunch Dh and the boys saw the DTD Ferry dock and ran to get on it to go to DQ. :goodvibes So a good place for a bite before a boat ride to fun.

If you dont drink, I would highly recommend the Sour Apple Freeze. It is made with Monin Syrup and my DS (6) wanted one of his own after he tasted mine.

Another time, Dh and the boys wanted AP and I wanted TC so I ordered and then took my plate over to AP so they could color on the easels for a more counter service meal.

I really hope they keep the TC open after the actual restaurant opens. It was like a combination of counter service and table service and I could still use the DDE. Dh watched the Rose Bowl there too and they had a nice little crowd!

Mark and Sue,
The DDE is good for parties up to 10.

Thank you Liferbabe. There are 9 of us altogether so this is looking better and better together with the information that I can order the PAP by phone and then order DDE all before we go away so won't need to mess around once arriving at SSR.

Many thanks.
